How long are the lessons?
Each lesson is 80 minutes long.

What happens at the assessment stage?
Your child will be given an assessment dependant on their age and the subject they wish to study with us: Most assessment test  take 60 minutes.

The tests are developed by the us at the centre based on the individual  & specific curriculum and are made to cover a snippet of all the topics from the curriculum for each academic year. This allows us to realise the child’s understanding of the breadth of the curriculum and then tailor their lesson plans accordingly.

How are the students taught?
Your child can be taught one-to-one or in small groups. They will be taught via a mixture of presentations, work sheets and interactive lessons; this is dependent on the subject, the teacher and the child’s learning style.

What is the ratio of children to tutors?
In our group sessions, we will have a maximum of 6 students per tutor. Depending on their assessments and other requirements, we will aim to group students on their ability or by the subject(s) they wish to study. This will ensure they still receive the individual attention that they require throughout the lesson. Group classes are very effective in creating a warm learning environment and are more cost effective.

Can I get one-to-one tuition?
Yes! This can be booked at the centre after your child’s assessment.

How does Raena Learning Centre differ from general classroom learning?
At our centre, we develop individual ‘learning journeys’ for each child so they are not just working towards an exam. We aim to allow our students time and practice to understand their topics through teaching and individual learning; as well as developing key skills in Math, English and Science, each student will work towards building their independent learning skills and confidence in their own abilities. This means that our students will not be dependent on, or limited by, the skills and knowledge of others.

Does Raena Learning Centre work alongside what my child learns at school?
The learning specifications for each year group are developed based on the child’s school  curriculum. For KCSE, IGCSE and A level courses, they have been developed in accordance to the exam board specifications for the new examinations.

Does Raena Learning Centre help students with the 11+/Checkpoints/SATs/KCPE/KCSE/IGCSEs/IB/A level exams?
Yes, we have a teaching plan to span the academic year for each type of exam, for this we have worked alongside the exams boards to ensure our tutors are up to date with changes to any specifications and have planned their lessons appropriately.
